Job description
Overview

We are advertising three new band 7 posts to complement our existing team. These are important roles to deliver key clinical activity in both hospital and community clinics. You will be well-supported within the team and the wider Trust, in a large training department with a strong research programme.

Posts: Permanent post B7 35 hours per week; two 7-month B7 posts 37.5 hours per week. We are seeking individuals with experience in complex adult audiological testing and rehabilitation, or paediatric assessment and habilitation. You will contribute to an audiology-first ENT service delivery model as part of our ENT recovery support.

Main duties of the job
  1. The provision of a comprehensive audiology service within the context of the wider department.
  2. Carrying out a range of diagnostic audiological tests.
  3. Providing a comprehensive rehabilitation service to hearing impaired adults and children.
  4. Provision of rehabilitative services to adults with complex needs.
  5. Maintaining own professional knowledge and contributing to the clinical developments of the department.
  6. Using knowledge and experience in the training and supervision of junior staff.
  7. Working independently.

If you can demonstrate exceptional clinical abilities and a proven track record of service development, we would be interested to hear from you. You must have excellent communication skills and a desire to find creative and effective solutions for patients with a variety of hearing and balance problems. You will be a competent practitioner and able to work without supervision in the main department and at satellite clinics. You will be expected to develop specialist expertise in some of our complex clinics, with training provided. The department is a training environment and you would be expected to contribute to training junior staff and PTP and STP trainees at BSc and MSc level.

You will have at least a BSc or MSc in Audiology or equivalent and will already have gained experience in a clinical setting. You must be AHCS/HCPC registered or working towards this.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • MSc in Audiology or equivalent (or assessed study in Adult Rehabilitation Audiology at M-level)
  • Scientific Training Programme qualification (or equivalent)
  • State registration (or working towards this if not yet eligible)

Experience

  • Extensive post-qualification general audiology experience
  • Significant specialist experience in adult rehabilitation
  • Significant paediatric Audiology experience
  • Experience in audit and service development

Desirable

  • Evidence of autonomous and unsupervised work
  • Experience with complex adult rehabilitation caseloads

Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of national standards, policies and guidelines
  • Knowledge of hearing aids and related technologies

Skills

  • Advanced skills in adult and paediatric auditory rehabilitation and specialist tests
  • Computer literacy and good keyboard skills
