Job summary

KLA, via the SPTS division, is seeking a dedicated mechanical assembler to join our high-performance team. You will assemble, repair and modify a range of sub-assemblies for wafer processing equipment, ensuring high quality through precise metal work and thorough records.

You will follow SOPs, work across shifts, and collaborate with QA and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement while maintaining safe working practices.

Qualifications

  • Proven mechanical experience in tool making, machining or assembling sub-assemblies.
  • Apprenticeship or hands-on mechanical trade training is preferred.
  • Ability to meet timescales with good time management and initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, repair and modify new parts and products.
  • Perform detailed metal work and finishing.
  • Polish and rework defective parts to high quality standards.
  • Provide assembly expertise and knowledge of manufacturing methods.
  • Assemble a wide variety of electro-mechanical sub-assemblies.
  • Carry out vacuum leak checks to the highest standard.
  • Follow SOPs, maintain thorough records and support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with quality and production engineering teams on improvements.

Job Description / Preferred Qualifications

The specialist assembly team within KLA manufacturing are a fundamental part of the business. This high-performance team works on our complex sub-assemblies that supply the manufacturing shop floor and customer orders. The team ensure we meet the required quality standard across the full range of our KLA products and help the company meet our customers’ requirements and expectations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to establish a career in a fast-growing, award-winning company with a clearly defined career development path.

Working hours: Monday - Thursday 6am-2pm & Friday 6am-1pm (week 1) and 1:45pm-10pm Monday - Thursday & 12:45 - 6:15pm Friday (week 2).

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
  • Assembling, repairing and modifying new parts and products.
  • Detailed metal work and finishing.
  • Polishing and rework of defective parts.
  • Providing high quality assembly expertise and knowledge of manufacturing methods.
  • Assembling a wide variety of electro-mechanical sub-assemblies.
  • Carrying out Vacuum leak checking of finished product to highest standard.
  • Following standard operation procedures (SOP’s) to ensure quality assurance and carry out the associated checks with meticulous record keeping.
  • Working with quality and production engineering teams to ensure continuous improvement of workplace.
  • Maintaining safety and standard operating procedures, ensuring safe working practices always, and adhering to any department processes, rules, and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

For this role we are looking for someone who:
  • Has proven mechanical experience in a similar role / environment such as tool making / machining / assembling of specialized sub-assemblies.
  • Experience of making, modifying, and repairing parts using lathes, grinders and drilling machines (non-essential).
  • Successful completion of a mechanical based apprenticeship in a hands-on engineering trade (non-essential).
  • Can commit to timescales and targets with excellent time management.
  • Has the ability to use their own initiative.
  • Demonstrates strong communication – You’ll enjoy establishing and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues in your own and wider team.
  • Can demonstrate good attention to detail to allow you to maintain our high level of production standards and efficiency.
  • Has good analytical skills with a logical approach to problem solving.
  • Confident in reading technical drawings and diagrams.
