Job summary

The SPTS division of KLA, based in Newport, designs and manufactures wafer processing equipment for the global semiconductor industry, including etch and deposition systems. End-market applications include MEMS, LED, and power semiconductors.

The role is a permanent position in a state-of-the-art facility, offering hands-on assembly training and exposure to precision automated manufacturing processes. Join our high-performing manufacturing team to build and assemble complex processing equipment,

Qualifications

  • A-level or NVQ level qualification.
  • Some experience in electronic assembly and soldering; training provided.
  • Ability to read assembly drawings and basic blueprints.
  • Experience in manufacturing/shop-floor environment preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail to meet production standards.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with MS Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Adhesive coating and bonding under a microscope.
  • Visual inspection for dies, resistors, capacitors to meet specs.
  • Manual soldering small components onto PCBs or flex circuits under a microscope.
  • Handle or attach small components using tweezers and fixtures.
  • Attach components onto wafer or flex circuit.
  • Perform IQC/OQC on raw parts (flex, PCBA, silicon substrate).
  • Operate voltmeter, caliper, oscilloscope to test assemblies.
  • Handle dilute chemicals (IPA, DI water, acetone, epoxy) to clean products.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

At KLA we design, develop, and manufacture high-tech capital equipment for the global semiconductor industry. In this role you’ll be working in our high performing manufacturing team to build and assemble our complex processing equipment.

Based at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Newport, South Wales this role presents the opportunity to work with innovative technology and learn precision automated manufacturing processes!

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
  • Adhesive coating and bonding with brushes and handheld sculpting tools (using a microscope)
  • Visual inspection using a microscope (20x magnification) for dies, resistors, capacitors to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Manual soldering small electronic components (using a microscope) onto Printed Circuit Board or flex circuit (resistors, capacitors, dies).
  • Handle or attach small components (die, capacitors, resistors) using tweezers and in house build fixture.
  • Attach small components onto wafer or flex circuit.
  • Performing visual inspection IQC (incoming quality inspection)/OQC (outgoing quality inspection) on raw parts (flex, PCBA, silicon substrate).
  • Operating fixturing/tooling or hand-held electronic equipment (Voltmeter, Caliper, Oscilloscope) to test cable assembly or electronic assembly boxes.
  • Handling dilute chemical solutions (IPA, DI water, Acetone, epoxy) to clean products.
Your Experience & Qualifications
  • Ideally hold A-level or NVQ level qualification(s).
  • Preferably have some experience in electronic assembly and soldering, however full role training provided.
  • Able to read assembly drawings, instructions, and basic blueprints.
  • Ideally have experience in a manufacturing and/or shop-floor environment.
  • Can demonstrate good attention to detail to allow you to maintain our high level of production standards and efficiency.
  • Has good analytical skills with a logical approach to problem solving.
  • Experience with MS Office products.

This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday. There may occasionally be the need to work on a shift basis due to business requirements.
