Job summary

Outcomes First Group is seeking a Teaching Assistant at Strawberry Lane School in Durham to support pupils with Complex ASC and additional needs. The role involves one-to-one and small-group support, collaboration with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff, and helping pupils develop confidence and independence.

Start date September 2026. Permanent/Term Time Only. 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. UK applicants only and DBS checks apply. Salary around £22,160.62 per year, not pro rata.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with Complex ASC.
• Passionate about supporting children with additional needs to achieve their full potential.
• Compassionate, patient and adaptable with a calm and positive approach.
• An excellent communicator who can work with colleagues and families.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils one-to-one and in small groups to meet academic, social and emotional goals.
• Assist teachers with engaging, personalised lessons and activities.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
• Prepare learning resources and support outdoor and enrichment activities.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Collaborate with therapists and pastoral staff to deliver consistent support.
• Supervise pupils during breaktimes and throughout the school day.
