Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a supportive and inclusive school in Oldham to recruit a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant. You will support four pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour, including two non-verbal students.

This full-time, long-term role aims to gradually increase engagement and help transition pupils from part-time to full-time education while working with teachers, SEN staff and external professionals on personalised learning plans in a structured,

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with special educational needs and/or challenging behaviour.
  • Confidence working with non-verbal pupils and knowledge of PECS or Makaton (desirable).
  • Strong behaviour management skills with a calm and consistent approach.
  • A compassionate, resilient, and adaptable attitude.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with a range of additional needs.
  • Assist in delivering tailored learning and behaviour support strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to implement personalised learning plans.

Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)
Location: Oldham
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term
Salary: 95- 100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

This is a full-time, long-term role, with the goal of gradually increasing pupils' engagement and helping transition them from part-time to full-time education.

About the Role
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with a range of additional needs
