Job description

Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant Full Time

Location: Tamworth
Pay: £100 £125 per day (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am 3:20pm
Contract: Full-Time

Looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to a young person's school day?

PK Education is currently recruiting Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming and supportive specialist education setting in Tamworth, working with pupils across both primary and secondary age groups.

The school provides a nurturing, structured environment for children and young people with a wide range of additional learning needs. With a strong emphasis on communication, independence, emotional wellbeing and personal development, staff work closely together to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to progress at their own pace.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who already has experience supporting children with additional needs, or someone who is patient, caring and genuinely interested in developing a career within SEND education.

What will your day look like?

No two days will be exactly the same. You will be supporting pupils with a variety of needs, which may include Autism (ASC), ADHD, communication difficulties, learning disabilities, sensory processing needs and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support and working with small groups of pupils who require additional assistance.

  • Supporting teachers with classroom activities, adapted learning tasks and individual learning plans.

  • Helping pupils develop communication, social interaction and independent living skills.

  • Supporting children with emotional regulation, behaviour and building positive relationships.

  • Encouraging engagement in lessons through practical, creative and sensory-based activities.

  • Working alongside teachers, therapists and other support staff to provide consistent care and guidance.

  • Creating a safe, calm and encouraging environment where pupils feel comfortable and supported.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals who are patient, approachable, resilient and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.

Previous experience working within a special school, mainstream SEND provision, care setting or youth support role would be an advantage. However, experience is preferred rather than essential, and we are equally happy to consider applicants who demonstrate a genuine willingness to learn.

You don't need to know everything from day one. What matters most is having the right attitude, being reliable and being prepared to adapt your approach to meet the needs of different pupils.

Why work with PK Education?

  • Competitive daily pay of £100 £125, depending on experience.

  • Full-time working hours, Monday to Friday.

  • Opportunity to gain valuable experience in a specialist SEND environment.

  • Support and guidance from an experienced education recruitment consultant.

  • Opportunities to develop your knowledge of SEND, behaviour support and inclusive education.

  • A rewarding role where you can see the difference your support makes every day.

Whether you're an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant or looking to take your first step into special education, this could be a great opportunity to build your skills in a supportive school environment.
