Job summary

Academics in Sutton seeks Teaching Assistants to support pupils with autism and a range of special educational needs. You will work in both whole class settings and 1:1 with students aged 10-16, contributing to inclusive teaching and positive behaviour support.

Experience is welcome but not essential; passion and flexibility are prized, with roles offered on long-term and supply basis from Sutton, a commutable area from London.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders is essential.
• Ability to work with pupils with diverse needs including MLD and EBD.
• Previous experience in education or care is welcomed but not required.

Job description

A Special school (SEN) which caters for pupils with a range of needs, including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autism (ASD) and behavioural difficulties (EBD) is looking for Teaching Assistants to start ASAP for long-term roles and daily supply.

There is a high proportion of autistic children attending the school so a good knowledge and understanding of autism is essential for the role. Also, being able to work with challenging behaviour would be beneficial.

The role will be very varied, you will need to be flexible to work with pupils aged 10-16 years old in a whole class setting and also 1:1 work with certain pupils.

Experience is desired, but not essential. Personality and passion for the job is the most important thing. Experience from a different sector, such as Care, Sports or Charity can also offer valuable skills.

The school is in a lovely area of Sutton, easily commutable from in or outside of London and the staff are very welcoming.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy
