Job summary

CER Education in Liverpool is seeking Special Needs Teaching Assistants for temporary placements across partner schools in the Liverpool area. We welcome experienced SEN TAs and Early Career TAs, with flexible start dates and ongoing support.

You’ll support pupils with PMLD, MLD, ASD, SEMH and other complex needs, delivering personalised learning and working closely with teachers and SEN teams. Immediate starts available.

Qualifications

  • TA qualification Level 2 or 3 desirable.
  • Experience supporting students with SEN.
  • Previous UK school experience; references required.
  • Strong communication, patience, and the ability to build rapport.
  • Commitment to helping pupils reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Support classroom learning and adapt activities in line with EHCPs.
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with diverse SEN.
  • Confidently adapt to different school environments.
  • Use a range of communication methods to enhance engagement.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to share best practice.

Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Liverpool

£90-£110 per day | Flexible Temporary Roles | Immediate Starts Available

CER Education are expanding our team of dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistants (SEN TAs) to support a range of partnership schools across the Liverpool area. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs including PMLD, MLD, ASD, SEMH, and complex learning difficulties.

Whether you’re an experienced SEN practitioner or an Early Career Teaching Assistant, we have a range of placements available – with full support to help you thrive.

About the Role

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils across the curriculum. You’ll work closely with teachers and school SEN teams to deliver personalised, purposeful learning that helps every child progress. You’ll gain valuable experience in a variety of settings and develop a strong skillset working with SEND pupils.

Key Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you will have:

  • A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3 desirable)
  • Experience supporting students with special educational needs
  • Previous experience in a UK school (references required)
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to build rapport
  • A genuine commitment to helping pupils achieve their full potential
