Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Special Needs HLTA for a community primary school in Openshaw, Manchester. The role involves running SEN/ASD interventions, small-group and 1:1 support, and occasional class cover as needed.

Ideal candidates will hold HLTA status or substantial HLTA-level experience in primary education, with a calm, nurturing approach and the ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team.

Special Needs HLTA – Openshaw, Manchester (M11)

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

Contract: Temporary, ongoing

Do you have HLTA status and experience supporting autistic children in primary school? Luma Education Recruitment is recruiting a full-time Special Needs HLTA for a community primary school in Openshaw, east Manchester. Most of your week will be spent running SEN and ASD interventions in small groups and 1:1. You'll also take classes when the teacher is away. You'll join a friendly, well-organised support team and work alongside the SENCo. The role is ongoing and starts ASAP.

A community primary school in Openshaw with an inclusive approach, an experienced SENCo and a close team of teaching assistants.

What You'll Be Doing

• Running targeted interventions for pupils with autism and other SEN
• Covering whole classes using the teacher's planning
• Building visual timetables, now-and-next boards and sensory breaks into pupils' days
• Recording progress against pupils' targets and feeding back to the SENCo
• Supporting and modelling good practice for other teaching assistants

What You'll Need

• HLTA status, or substantial experience working at HLTA level in a primary school
• Experience supporting primary-aged pupils with SEN, especially autism
• Confidence teaching a whole class as well as small groups
