Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting 1-1 SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs in Guildford, Surrey, from September. Roles include one-to-one and small group support in SEN schools, fostering inclusion and wellbeing.

We welcome graduates or those with experience in supporting vulnerable children. You will collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to tailor activities and create a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in schools, care, youth work, sports coaching, nurseries, or similar settings is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while using your own initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, responding to their individual learning and emotional needs.
  • Assisting children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence and independence.
  • Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to support pupils throughout the school day.
  • Adapting learning activities and resources to help pupils access the curriculum.
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment where every child feels valued.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social development.
