TeacherActive is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with additional needs in Nottingham from September 2026. The role offers long term, temp-to-perm and day-to-day placements across trusted SEND settings.

The successful candidate will have SEND experience, knowledge of autism and SEMH, strong communication and relationship-building skills, and the patience to manage challenging behaviours.

Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Nottingham

Start Date: September 2026

Salary: £92.63 - £100 a day

Do you have the patience, resilience and adaptability to thrive within a specialist SEND environment?

We are currently working with the fantastic SEND settings/schools across Nottingham who will be looking for experienced and passionate teaching assistants to join them in the new academic year.

Not only are we looking for teaching assistants for long term/temp to perm roles but we are also looking for people for day to day/short term roles as well.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND
• A good understanding of Autism / ASD, SEMH, learning difficulties and additional needs
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to support pupils with challenging behaviours where required
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people to achieve their goals
