Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Assistant
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
32.5 hours per week | Term Time Only
Start Date: 1st September 2025
Are you an experienced and compassionate professional with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are working on behalf of a well-established and inclusive special education setting in Stoke-on-Trent to recruit a dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join their hardworking and welcoming team.
This is an outstanding opportunity to work in a nurturing school that supports pupils aged 3-19 with a wide range of cognitive and learning difficulties, including PMLD, SLD, and MLD-many of whom also have additional medical, sensory, or behavioural needs.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Delivering tailored learning activities to individuals and small groups under teacher supervision
- Supporting pupils with a range of needs including communication challenges, sensory processing disorders, and complex physical or medical needs
- Monitoring, assessing, and recording pupil progress, and contributing to planning and review meetings
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals and therapists to implement care/therapy programmes
- Managing behaviour and promoting a safe, inclusive learning environment throughout the school day
- Escorting and supervising pupils on educational visits and during off-timetable activities
Who We're Looking For:
You'll be a motivated and empathetic SEN professional who brings energy, patience, and a deep commitment to inclusive education. We're particularly interested in candidates who:
- Hold an NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning (or equivalent)
- Have experience supporting children or young adults in SEN, care, or educational settings
- Are familiar with SEN support plans, safeguarding practices, and school-based health & safety policies
- Can confidently work with pupils with a wide range of physical, emotional, and learning needs
- Are flexible, proactive, and eager to continue their own professional development
