Job summary

The Birtenshaw Group in Bolton seeks an experienced SEN Teacher to join our purpose-built school in Bromley Cross. The role focuses on delivering high-quality teaching for pupils with complex needs in a calm, supportive environment that promotes communication and well-being.

You will work with a dedicated team, maintain up-to-date SEN practice, coordinate subject areas, communicate with families, and contribute to safeguarding and positive behaviour.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEN principles and practice.
• Ability to coordinate work across the school in a subject or skill area.
• Skills in communicating with parents and carers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) principles, definitions and basic practice.
• Coordinate work across the school in at least one given subject or key skill area as agreed with the Head Teacher.
• Communicate and consult with parents/carers and other appropriate people, preparing reports for and participating in child focused meetings.
• Recognise, value and raise the achievement of children.
• Use effective teaching strategies and lesson structures to deliver the curriculum
• Promote social and emotional development, positive behaviour and, where appropriate to the age group taught, to prepare for adulthood
