Job summary

Cromer Academy invites applications for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support students in the Specialist Resource Base. The role focuses on providing care and learning support for pupils with SEND, helping access lessons and managing classrooms with guidance from teachers.

Based at Cromer Academy, the post is part-time, 32.5 hours per week, over 5 days, 38 weeks, with a start date in November 2026. The school offers professional development and a supportive environment within Inspiration

Qualifications

• Good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Experience with or caring for children of relevant age.
• Experience supporting students with SEND.
• Knowledge of safeguarding policies and legislation.
• Basic understanding of child development.
• Ability to assess learning needs and seek learning opportunities.

Responsibilities

• To undertake care and learning programmes and activities to support individuals or groups of pupils, including more specialised support for those with SEND.
• To enable access to learning for pupils and assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.
• To ensure the highest standards of teaching, learning, specialist support and safeguarding for the pupils within the Autism Base, enabling them to make accelerated progress and to have their special educational needs met.
• To promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their behaviour.
• To assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times as required.
• To prepare, maintain and use equipment/resources required to meet the lesson plans/relevant learning activity and assist pupils in their use, including supporting the use of ICT learning activities and developing pupils’ competence in its use.
• To support pupils during routine tests and external examinations as required.
