Job summary

Lexington County School District One seeks an Instructional Assistant, Special Education to support students identified as disabled under IDEA. Under supervision, you will assist with academic, emotional and physical support to maximize program benefits.

The role reports to the Principal in the Special Services department and is based on a standard 185-day school calendar with a Grade 8 salary schedule. Includes non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least two years of study (60 semester hours) at an accredited institution of higher education; or an associate's degree (or higher); or a passing score on the ParaPro or ParaPathways Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers with primary academic instruction and classroom activities; prepares and disseminates materials for classroom activities.
• Assists with physical health programs for students including activities such as physical therapy and assisting students with exercise, stretching, walking, etc.
• Assists teacher in handling daily living routines and in taking students to activities in and out of the school building.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
