Job summary

Government Recruitment Service in Bristol seeks a Spatial Analyst to produce, deliver and advise on geospatial data, maps, statistics and data visualisation for Forest Services. You will focus on using geographic and statistical evidence to support the Forestry Commission’s aims for the environment, people and economy.

Qualifications

• Experience with geospatial data and GIS software.
• Ability to produce high quality maps and statistics.
• Experience communicating evidence to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct bespoke desktop GIS analyses for Forest Services customers using GIS software (including ESRI ArcGIS and Python), office software and delivering visualisations in maps, tables and text to timescales and professional standards.
• Collaborate across the Forestry Commission and Defra group to collate, quality assure, manage, analyse and present geospatial data and metadata.
• Help manage data for enterprise‑wide GIS systems and data sharing/licensing.
• Contribute to Forestry Commission Official Statistics and management information and to other analyses in support of FC goals.
• Provide technical advice on policy questions at meetings.
