Job summary

SPAR Thropton in Northumberland is hiring a Deli Assistant to deliver great service and food quality. You will prepare and serve a variety of deli items, from ready-to-go to made-to-order options, in a welcoming team environment.

You’ll contribute to high standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation while assisting customers and maintaining displays. The role is part-time, 24 hours per week, in-store at SPAR Thropton.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-facing roles preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and allergen handling desirable.
• Able to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

About the Role

As a Deli Assistant, you’ll be right at the heart of delivering great service and great food to our customers. You’ll prepare and serve a variety of freshly made products, from ready-to-go items to delicious made-to-order options. Working as part of a supportive team, you’ll help create a welcoming environment while keeping our high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.

Here’s What You Can Expect to be Doing

Your role will be varied, hands-on, and customer-focused, including:

• Providing friendly, helpful service and sharing product knowledge with customers
• Preparing, baking, and presenting our tasty range of deli products
• Ensuring shelves and counters are fully stocked and attractively displayed
• Following food safety standards including allergen awareness, labelling, and audits
• Keeping equipment and work areas clean, safe, and sanitised at all times
