Job summary

A leading aerospace and defense company based in Northern Ireland is seeking a Design Engineer to generate mechanical and thermal designs essential for space project propulsion subsystems. The ideal candidate should have an engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, experience with CAD tools like Catia, and knowledge of relevant drawing standards. This role involves collaboration in a multi-discipline team environment and adherence to project deadlines. Security Clearance required.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience.
• The following would be an asset: A Master’s or higher degree.
• Membership of a professional Institution.

Responsibilities

• Prepare/update subsystem CAD models and review materials.
• Demonstrate design engineering knowledge to achieve critical project outcomes.
• Cover activities such as integrated product design and requirements management.
• Generate Mechanical designs of parts and assemblies needed for space project equipment.
• Participate in design trade-off activities.
• Manage the product tree structure.

Skills

Mechanical design knowledge

3-D CAD software experience (Catia preferred)

Knowledge of drawing standards (BS 8888)

Geometric Tolerancing best practice

Knowledge of manufacturing techniques

Education

Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering

Master’s degree or higher

Membership of a professional Institution
