Job summary

Expleo is seeking an experienced Metallurgist for an onsite opportunity in Portsmouth to ensure that materials and processes used in satellite production meet regulatory, contractual, and international quality standards for safe operation and certification.

Responsibilities include approving materials/processes for waveguide hardware, reviewing supplier materials, managing MPCB/RFA, generating QTPs/QTRs, inspecting hardware, and resolving non-conformances across Portsmouth and Stevenage sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in materials, metallurgy, or related field.
• HNC/HND considered with significant domain expertise.
• Experience in aerospace, defence, or space environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Approve materials and processes for waveguide hardware per MPCB requirements.
• Review supplier materials and manufacturing processes against M&P and customer standards.
• Manage material/process qualifications via RFA and internal programs.
• Generate/review Qualification Test Plans and Reports with supporting docs.
• Inspect waveguide hardware during manufacturing and assembly activities.
• Investigate non-conformances, implement corrective actions, ensure timely resolution.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams across sites.
• Address obsolescence, identify alternatives, and qualify substitutions.
• Provide metallurgical input for Portsmouth and Stevenage sites, including propulsion and antennas.
