Job summary

Lumi Space in London is seeking a Backend / Data Platform Engineer to help build the platform that ingests, processes and serves orbital tracking data from our stations to customers. You will design scalable time-series data models, implement robust ingest pipelines, and develop APIs to deliver data in standard formats.

This role requires strong backend experience and collaboration with engineers across geodesy and orbit determination.

Qualifications

• Extensive backend experience in production environments.
• Strong Python, Go or Rust and SQL skills.
• Experience with data pipelines, message queues and time-series storage.
• Cloud infrastructure and containers (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Care for testing, security and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Build ingest pipelines from stations and third-party data sources.
• Design data models and storage for high-volume time-series data.
• Build and maintain customer APIs and data delivery in standard formats.
• Make pipelines reliable, observable and secure for customers with strict data-handling requirements.
• Collaborate with front-end, geodesy and orbit determination engineers.
