Job summary

Foundational is building the most precise picture of Earth and orbit, using lasers fired from the ground. We design and run laser ranging stations and turn measurements into tracking data and orbit products for operators and agencies. London-based, on-site, early-stage spacetech with EMI options.

Qualifications

• Degree in geodesy, physics, maths, data science or similar with MSc/PhD preferred.
• Strong Python and scientific stack (NumPy, pandas, SciPy).
• Solid statistics: estimation, time series, uncertainty.
• Experience with large scientific datasets.
• Habit of writing production code, not just notebooks.

Responsibilities

• Build processing pipelines from raw ranging data to normal points and higher-level products.
• Develop statistical methods for bias detection, outlier rejection and data quality.
• Analyse station and network performance and identify improvements.
• Collaborate with geodesy and orbit teams to turn research into products.
• Translate analysis into reports, plots and customer-facing metrics.
