Luna Innovations Incorporated is seeking a Senior Software Backend Developer for the Edge Platform team in Elstree, London. This hands-on role focuses on designing, developing and scaling backend systems that process live sensor data from distributed sensing networks.

You will drive architectural decisions, promote engineering best practices, and collaborate across international teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions for critical infrastructure customers.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with modern C++ (C++17+).
• Experience with PostgreSQL and SQL databases.
• Knowledge of REST APIs and WebSockets.
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices.
• Linux development experience; Windows familiarity.
• Container technologies: Docker and Podman.
• Data-intensive processing pipelines.
• Git, CI/CD, testing, and documentation practices.
• Secure coding principles.
• Excellent problem-solving and independent work.

Responsabilités

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance data processing services using modern C++ (C++17+).
• Build and enhance backend services for sensor management, data ingestion, analytics, and API functionality.
• Integrate Python-based algorithms into production systems.
• Develop, deploy, and support containerised apps using Docker/Podman across Linux and Windows.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, PMs, and domain experts.
• Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability across distributions.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and best practices.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and delivery processes.
• Implement secure development practices and vulnerability remediation.
• Own features end-to-end from design to deployment.
