Job summary

Luna Innovations is seeking a Senior Software Backend Developer for the Edge Platform team in Elstree, London. You will design, develop, and scale backend systems powering real-time sensing platforms, handling data ingestion, analytics, and APIs.

You will lead in implementing secure, scalable solutions with modern C++, Linux focus, and containerised deployments across global environments. Collaboration across international teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with modern C++ (C++17+).
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices.
• Proficiency in Linux development and Windows environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance data processing services in C++17+.
• Build backend services for sensor management, ingestion, analytics, and APIs.
• Integrate Python-based algorithms into production software.
• Develop, deploy, and support containerised apps with Docker/Podman on Linux and Windows.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, product managers, and domain experts to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Improve performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability across distributed deployments.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and best-practice adoption.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, testing, and software delivery processes.
• Promote secure development and remediation of vulnerabilities.
• Own features across design, deployment, and support lifecycles.
