Job summary

The Discovery in Cardiff is seeking a driven Sous Chef to join its busy kitchen. You will work with the Head Chef to oversee daily operation, lead the team during services, and ensure consistently high standards across breakfasts, lunches, pub favourites and Sunday roasts.

This is a full-time role with shifts across evenings, weekends and public holidays; major events are essential. A strong focus on food safety, COSHH and teamwork is required, with opportunities for progression in a vibrant

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef in a busy pub or restaurant.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and COSHH protocols.
• Ability to lead by example and train new kitchen staff.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and major events.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef with smooth kitchen running.
• Lead and motivate the kitchen team during busy services.
• Promote teamwork and maintain high standards.
• Prepare and deliver breakfasts, lunches, pub favourites and Sunday roasts.
• Ensure first-class service and consistent food quality.
• Maintain safety standards and COSHH compliance.
• Assist with stock control and kitchen organisation.
