Job summary

Compass Group UK&I is recruiting a driven Sous Chef for a weekdays-only role in Rugby. You will support the Chef Manager, lead a brigade, and help shape menus across breakfast, hospitality, and events in a fast-paced kitchen.

From refining dishes to maintaining high hygiene, you will mentor junior chefs, manage stock and prep, and ensure consistent quality across all service formats while bringing flavour, energy, and leadership to every service.

Qualifications

• Chef de Partie or Sous Chef with experience in quality-focused kitchens.
• Ability to lead and support a brigade in a busy kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chef Manager in delivering high-quality, flavorful dishes across varied service formats.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 12:00 to 20:00
Salary: Up to £15.15 per hour, depending on experience

Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, supports their Chef Manager with confidence, and brings both skill and flair to every service. This role is perfect for a driven chef ready to help shape exceptional dining experiences while leading by example.

From fuelling early risers with crafted breakfasts to supporting with hospitality and events, your role will be as varied as the menus you help create. You'll support a talented brigade of chefs, help refine menus, and bring flavour, precision, and energy to every plate.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Chef Manager in delivering food that’s full of flavour, consistency, and visual appeal across varied service formats, from wholesome grab and go to elegant plated dishes.
• Stay curious – help shape menus that celebrate quality ingredients and smart nutritional choices.
• Help foster a positive, high-performing kitchen culture where culinary standards are championed every day.
• Assist with ordering, stock control, and kitchen organisation to ensure smooth, efficient operations.
• Maintain best-in-class food hygiene and safety, with presentation that always feels considered.
• Support training, mentoring, and the development of junior chefs within the brigade.

What you’ll bring to the table

• A confident Chef de Partie or Sous Chef with experience in quality-focused kitchens.
• A love for food that’s both nourishing and exciting, think modern techniques, bold flavours, and balanced plates.
• Strong organisational skills – you know your way around a rota, prep list, and stockroom.
• Passion for developing others, you lead by example and raise the bar
• A sharp eye for food safety, consistency, and detail.
• Knowledge of portioning, food cost and waste control, flavour should be smart as well as satisfying.
