Job summary

Umami is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our new kitchen team. You will work closely with the Head Chef to manage daily operations, uphold high culinary standards, and deliver an exceptional dining experience for guests.

This leadership role involves guiding line cooks, assisting with menu creation, and ensuring smooth food preparation and service while maintaining cost controls and team motivation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar leadership role in a restaurant kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen operations.
• Excellent leadership, organizational and multitasking skills.
• Ability to manage and inspire kitchen staff to perform efficiently.
• Strong communication to liaise with kitchen and front‑of‑house teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day kitchen operations with Head Chef.
• Supervise and guide kitchen staff ensuring efficiency.
• Manage food preparation, cooking and presentation for consistency.
• Oversee stock, orders, storage and waste reduction.
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance.
