Job summary

Job description

The Sous Chef position at this luxury country estate in Gullane, East Lothian offers a permanent, full-time role within a small private dining team.

Working a four days on, three days off rota, the successful candidate will receive a competitive salary up to £39,000, alongside 28 days of paid holiday, pension contributions, and free parking.

This quality-led operation uses premium produce across the main house, bespoke events, and private dining.

Responsibilities include assisting the Executive Chef with menu planning and implementation, plus managing the kitchen’s daily operations.

The role provides genuine autonomy and significant scope for professional growth within a varied catering environment.

Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef on menu planning and implementation, take responsibility for the day to day running of the kitchen, and play a key role in leading and developing the wider team.

Stock control, ordering and health and safety compliance also fall within the remit.

The ideal Sous Chef will have significant experience in a quality driven kitchen, a proven ability to manage and develop a team, and the drive and creativity to help shape the food offering.

A 4 or 5 star hotel background would be advantageous, and rosette experience is desirable though not essential.
