Mortimer House Kitchen in London is seeking a motivated Junior Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in running a busy, quality-led open kitchen. You will lead the pass, mentor junior chefs and ensure every plate meets our high standards.
We value calm leadership, excellent technical cooking skills and clear communication in a fast-paced environment. A strong grasp of GP, stock control and food safety is essential for success in this role.
On a charming corner of Fitzrovia sits Mortimer House Kitchen, an Italian restaurant, bar and terrace where guests stop by for breakfast, stay for a long lunch, and linger over supper. We're looking for a Sous Chef to help lead a busy, quality-led open kitchen.
Brava Hospitality Group is the home of great restaurant brands. We're the group behind Prezzo Italian, Jamie's Italian, Riding House Café, Nessa, Yasmin, Mortimer House Kitchen and, most recently, Bolo by Gennaro. We're growing the footprint of every one of our brands, which means real opportunities to grow with us.
Mortimer House Kitchen is our Italian restaurant in the heart of Fitzrovia. Our menu brings to life summers spent in Orta San Giulio and on the Amalfi Coast. Inspired by the simplicity of Italian cooking, we champion the freshest British and Italian produce, served generously and made for sharing.
From breakfast to dinner, every part of the day has its own moment. Guests settle in by our open kitchen, soak up the atmosphere on our sunny terrace, and celebrate in our Conservatory, which transforms at the pull of a curtain into a private dining room for feasts of up to 20 guests. On Saturdays, our brunch brings fluffy buttermilk pancakes, Italian baked eggs and bottomless Prosecco.
As Junior Sous Chef, you support the Head Chef to run the kitchen, lead the pass and make sure every plate meets our standards. You bring excellent technical skills, calm leadership and real attention to detail.
At Mortimer House Kitchen, it all comes down to two things: the impression we make and the connections we build. Every guest should leave feeling genuinely looked after, whether they came for a quick coffee or a celebration with 20 friends. That starts with how we treat each other. Teams who look out for one another, have fun together and take pride in what they do create the moments guests remember.
You're warm, generous and love great food. You notice the small things, like a regular's usual order or the table that needs a little extra care, and you take pride in getting them right. You enjoy the buzz of a busy central London restaurant and bring energy and calm to it in equal measure. Above all, you want every guest to feel like the evening is theirs to savour.
You'll give a lot to this role. Here's what we give back.
