Job summary

San Carlo Knightsbridge is seeking a Sous Chef to lead the kitchen team and oversee daily food preparation, cooking and plating in a fast-paced Italian restaurant.

You will manage staff, mentor junior chefs, and ensure food safety standards while delivering high-quality dishes consistent with our brand. Competitive pay and strong staff benefits accompany this role.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in a similar role.
• Team management experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and highly organised.
• Proactive self-starter with good judgement.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing day-to-day kitchen operations, including prep, cooking and plating.
• Managing kitchen staff: hiring, training and scheduling.
• Maintain a happy, engaged team with 1:1s, incentives and recognition.
• Inductions for all new starters in line with company procedure.
• Mentor new team members to ensure a positive working environment.
• Ensure food safety and sanitation guidelines are followed.
• Manage food inventory and supplier orders as needed.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is well maintained and repaired.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the Junior Sous Chefs to ensure all training is to company standards
• Mentor any new members of the team, to ensure a positive working experience
• Ensuring that all kitchen staff follow food safety and sanitation guidelines and kitchen procedures
• Managing food inventory and ordering supplies as needed
• Ensuring that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and repaired as needed.
• Collaborating with other kitchen staff and restaurant management to ensure that food is prepared and served in a timely manner
• Handling customer complaints or issues related to food quality or service
• Treat everyone with respect and remain calm at all times

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 2 year’s experience in a similar role
