Job summary

San Carlo Regent Street is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to lead day-to-day kitchen operations in a busy, high-volume setting in London. You will oversee food preparation, cooking, and plating while managing a skilled team, hiring, training, and scheduling to maintain consistency and morale.

You will ensure strict adherence to food safety standards, mentor junior chefs, and collaborate with restaurant management to deliver timely, high-quality dishes.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Team management experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail, highly organised.
• Proactive self-starter with good judgement.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
• Managing kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
• Maintaining a happy and engaged team through 1:1 meetings, incentives and recognition.
• Inductions for all new starters in line with company procedure.
• Manage the Junior Sous Chefs to ensure all training is to company standards.
• Mentor any new members of the team, to ensure a positive working experience.
• Ensuring that all kitchen staff follow food safety and sanitation guidelines and kitchen procedures.
• Managing food inventory and ordering supplies as needed
• Ensuring that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and repaired as needed.
• Collaborating with other kitchen staff and restaurant management to ensure that food is prepared and served in a timely manner
• Handling customer complaints or issues related to food quality or service
• Treat everyone with respect and remain calm at all times
