Job summary

Caring Homes Group Ltd in Benson is seeking a Sous Chef to join Benson House, a 70-bed Nursing, Dementia and Residential Care Home. You will assist the Head Chef, plan meals, and support a 40-hour week at £19.67 per hour, delivering nutritious, home-style dishes for residents.

This role emphasizes balance, creativity, team mentoring, kitchen safety, and collaboration with other departments to meet dietary needs, with ongoing training and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Food Safety qualification.
• Level 2 Catering and Hospitality qualification.
• Allergen awareness certificate desirable.
• Minimum 5 years in a commercial kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Chef in planning and preparing nutritious meals for residents.
• Oversee kitchen operations, cleanliness, organisation, and safety standards.
• Support and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Create menus aligned with residents' dietary needs and preferences.
• Coordinate with other departments to accommodate special events and dietary needs.
• Communicate with residents and relatives to ensure satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing high-quality, nutritious meals for our residents.
• Oversee kitchen operations, ensuring cleanliness, organisation, and adherence to safety standards when needed.
• Support and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
• Create and update menus that align with residents’ dietary needs and preferences.
• Collaborating with other departments to coordinate special events and dietary accommodations for residents as needed.
• Coordinating and communicating with the residents and relatives to ensure the satisfaction and needs of everyone is met and exceeded through continual feedback.

Ideal Candidate

• Level 2 or above in Food Safety.
• Level 2 Catering and Hospitality Qualification.
• Allergen and Intolerance Awareness Certificate desired but not essential.
• At least 5 years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen.
