Job summary

Caring Homes Group Ltd. is seeking a talented Sous Chef for The Orchard Nursing Home in St Albans.

The role offers a permanent full-time contract of 40 hours per week with a pay of £14.91 per hour, aimed at delivering home‑style meals for residents and maintaining high kitchen standards. You will assist the Head Chef in menu planning, kitchen operations, and staff mentoring, while ensuring adherence to safety and dietary requirements.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or above in Food Safety.
• Level 2 Catering and Hospitality Qualification.
• Allergen and Intolerance Awareness Certificate desired but not essential.
• At least 5 years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing high‑quality, nutritious meals for residents.
• Oversee kitchen operations, ensuring cleanliness, organisation and safety standards.
• Support and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Create and update menus to align with residents’ dietary needs and preferences.
• Coordinate with other departments for special events and dietary accommodations.
• Communicate with residents and relatives to ensure satisfaction and needs are met.
