Job summary

apetito is seeking a dedicated SOP Co-ordinator to drive governance of site SOPs and training compliance across manufacturing. This full‑time, site-based role requires independent work, priority setting, and collaboration with SMEs to maintain and improve the SOP framework.

You will own the SOP governance process, standards and training systems, ensuring content remains accurate while owners retain accountability. The role supports compliance, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in food science, quality assurance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in SOP writing and training within a food manufacturing or similar regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of food safety standards and audit requirements (e.g., HACCP, BRCGS, ISO 22000).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to a diverse workforce.
• Ability to deliver effective training to diverse teams.
• Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain the site's SOP framework, including document standards, templates, approval processes, ownership requirements and review cycles.
• Facilitate the development, review and maintenance of SOPs and work instructions for production, quality, hygiene, engineering, warehousing and other facility operations.
• Define and maintain clear ownership and accountability for SOPs across all departments.
• Work collaboratively with teams across the business to identify best practice, apply lean methodology, and ensure SOPs reflect operational requirements and regulatory standards.
• Promote sustainable working practices and waste reduction by ensuring SOPs support efficient use of materials, energy and time.
• Develop, coordinate and deliver engaging training programmes relating to SOPs, ensuring employees understand and apply documented processes.
• Use inclusive communication methods appropriate for a diverse workforce.
• Maintain records of SOP approvals, revisions, training completion and compliance sign-off.
• Monitor training compliance and competency levels; set and track KPIs for SOP effectiveness.
• Support internal and external audits, ensuring SOPs and training records are audit-ready.
• Produce regular management reports on SOP status, training, audits, KPIs and improvements.
• Stay updated on industry standards and customer requirements relevant to the operation.
