Why this job matters

As a lead consultant in our Defence Solution Design Authority practice, you will work as a trusted industry partner to our defence customer, supporting internal units (Sales, Business, Technology, Security, Operations), key stakeholders, and external third-party technology providers. You will report to the practice manager.

You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, the customer, and its departments to conceptualise their strategic vision, capture requirements, and develop innovative digital solutions aligned with their digital strategy, transforming their business operations.

This role involves using a robust ICT framework architecture, security principles, methodologies, industry best practices, and compliance policies. You will provide expert solution architecture throughout all stages of the design lifecycle.

You will be part of a Solution Design Authority team, working with architects, designers, technology experts, business managers, and analysts to ensure successful solution delivery across various sensitive and unique projects.

What you'll be doing
  • Engaging with customers, stakeholders, and partners to provide architecture governance, leadership, and decision-making aligned with architecture principles.
  • Developing and owning enterprise architecture artifacts, strategies, and roadmaps from business and technology perspectives, including current, future, and transitional states.
  • Providing expertise to stakeholders for complex service change, delivery, and resource requirements.
  • Responding to complex customer requests for information, contract changes, solution proposals, and bids throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Delivering architecture outcomes such as proof of concepts, whitepapers, bid documents, and high-level designs addressing customer requirements.
Skills and Experience
  • Enterprise networks (IP Layer 1-7)
  • Enterprise network security and boundary protection
  • Service provider networks (e.g., DWDN, SDH, OTN)
  • ICT vendor technologies and solutions (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, F5, Nokia)
  • Architecture methodologies & languages (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate, ITIL, BPMN)
  • Experience with enterprise architecture tools (e.g., iServer, IBM Doors)
  • Responding to complex, multi-vendor public sector propositions and bids based on customer requirements
  • Developing solution roadmaps and governance structures in line with customer needs
