Solutions Architect (Azure / Databricks)

Initial 3 months, likely to extend into 12+ month build.

Remote-first. Some US travel for workshops (expenses covered).

Start Date – Late May / Early June latest.

Primus Connect is seeking two experienced Solutions Architects with strong Azure data platform expertise to lead the design and development of a next-generation data and analytics platform for a rapidly scaling insurtech venture.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role at the heart of a greenfield transformation project. The business is developing a new platform to sit between insurance providers and claims systems. You’ll work closely with executive stakeholders including the CTO and CEO and collaborate with a cross-functional consulting team to define and deliver a North Star architecture.

The client has developed an MVP platform but is pivoting to align with long-term business goals.

We have been engaged to:

• Align all stakeholders on a target architecture and roadmap.
• Deliver high- and low-level solution design across the data platform and infrastructure.
• Lead the delivery of foundational infrastructure and data components to support future product development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and document the end-to-end solution architecture: source, storage, modelling, transformation, mastering.
• Design Azure-based data platforms including infrastructure, integration, and application-level components.
• Develop both high- and low-level architectural designs, clearly articulating tooling, data flow, and governance models.
• Align technical delivery with business goals and product strategy.
• Lead workshops with client stakeholders to validate design decisions.
• Work collaboratively with other consultants (e.g., Data Strategy Advisor, Data Management Specialist) across Phases 1–3.

We’re looking for architects with hands-on design experience in the following:

• Databricks
• Experience with APIs, real-time/event-based architecture, and integration with external systems.
• Strong ability to operate at infrastructure and tooling level (e.g., Azure networking, VMs).
• Demonstrated experience delivering both high- and low-level architectural documents.
• Deep understanding of data integration and transformation flows.
• Experience with Graph DBs and customer mastering (match and merge logic).
• Comfortable leading technical engagements and working directly with C-level stakeholders.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience in insurance, claims, or financial services domains.
• Experience in data governance, MDM, and scalable architecture design patterns.
• Delivery will be run from the UK, with some occasional travel to the US (Manhattan or Chicago) for stakeholder workshops.
