Solution Architect (Customer Servicing)

Locations: Swindon or London

Hybrid (2 days on site, 3 days remote)

We’re seeking a skilled Solution Architect to define and realize strategic IT outcomes through change and innovation.

Nationwide leverages modern tech to unify teams and enhance digital experiences, investing in branches and contact centers to blend human and digital services. The 'Customer Servicing' domain is key to this transformation, focusing on systems that support front-line staff in delivering seamless customer journeys.

The successful candidate will be responsible for architecture and solution design supporting our Colleague Servicing landscape, providing leadership and ensuring solution integrity.

This role offers a chance to impact a major change initiative, requiring experience in modernizing systems using on-premises and cloud-native technologies in a regulated environment.

Nationwide promotes hybrid working, with at least two days per week at our Swindon or London office. Further details will be provided upon hiring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shape the evolution of architecture capabilities.
  • Champion new technologies and methodologies, including cloud solutions.
  • Create target state roadmaps and architecture runways.
  • Lead solution design, ensuring alignment with strategies and guardrails.
  • Define and refine architectural principles and patterns.
  • Collaborate with external partners to future-proof architecture.
  • Ensure end-to-end integrity of solutions.
  • Manage architectural questions and governance.

Lead and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with business goals, adhering to engineering principles and strategy.

About You:

  • Experience reviewing technical designs and participating in proof of concepts.
  • Proven leadership in secure, resilient solution delivery.
  • Background in software design, development, and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
  • Guidance and assurance experience in project governance.
  • Ability to interpret business needs and deliver cost-effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills across diverse stakeholders.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience in back-office domains such as Retail Services, Collections, and Customer/Colleague systems.
  • Experience working in regulated environments and with cloud and on-premises solutions.
  • Understanding of networking and infrastructure security.
  • Experience working with third-party vendors.
