Job summary

Computershare, a global leader in financial administration, seeks a Solution Architect for AI initiatives on a 12‑month contract in London or Edinburgh, three days onsite. You will define scalable architectures and governance, integrating risk, security and compliance from design to delivery.

Lead AI workstreams, embed Responsible AI practices, and collaborate with vendors to migrate from legacy tech while ensuring robust security and observability.

Qualifications

• Experience in solution or enterprise architecture for AI or large-scale systems.
• Hands-on with LLMs, RAG, agentic/ orchestration frameworks, and vector DBs.
• Strong cloud knowledge (AWS/Azure) and engineering best practices.
• Knowledge of governance, security, privacy and Responsible AI.
• Cloud-based apps design and vendor engagement experience.
• Experience migrating from legacy technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of AI initiatives including agentic and conversational AI.
• Provide solution design for prioritized AI use cases from engagement to delivery.
• Design scalable, stable, and resilient solutions.
• Ensure non-functional requirements like performance, availability, and observability.
• Contribute to governance standards and policies for design quality.
• Define transition plans aligning with IT budgeting and planning.
• Embed Responsible AI, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements with Risk and Compliance.

Job description

Salary: £50,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience in solution or enterprise architecture, including designing and delivering production AI, machine learning, or large-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on expertise with large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic and orchestration frameworks, and vector databases.
• Strong command of at least one major cloud platform, such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure, and of software engineering best practices, APIs, security, and MLOps or LLMOps.
• Working knowledge of AI governance, security, privacy, and Responsible AI practices such as fairness, transparency, and accountability.
• Experience designing and implementing cloud-based applications and services.
• Experience working with technology vendors.
• Experience creating application migration strategies that enable transition away from legacy technologies.
• Workers must operate via an Umbrella or PAYE engagement model.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and delivery of one or more AI initiatives, including agentic AI systems, conversational AI and voice agents, document intelligence platforms, and AI-powered software development lifecycle solutions.
• Provide solution design services for prioritised AI use cases, from early engagement through delivery assurance.
• Design innovative, scalable, stable, and resilient solutions.
• Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements, including performance, availability, disaster recovery, and observability.
• Contribute to the ownership and evolution of governance and assurance frameworks, standards, and policies to improve design quality and consistency.
• Define high-level transition plans that address gaps between current and future states and align with IT budgeting and planning processes.
• Embed Responsible AI, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements into architecture, including controls, model risk, auditability, and human-in-the-loop measures, working with Risk, Security, and Compliance.
