Solution Architect – National Salary Circa £45,000

At Aviva, we are looking to transform the way in which we engage with our customers, and we are seeking experienced software solution architects to work on IT projects that drive this transformation.

This role is ideal for someone capable of building end-to-end designs that are fit for purpose, considering functional, non-functional, service, and security aspects. The focus is primarily on application and integration, with knowledge of the underlying technical infrastructure supporting these solutions.

The post holder will be a key member of a global architecture team, passionate about advocating for the value of architecture and its delivery across the organization.

Our current team is based across UK offices, operating a flexible work model, with an average of 2.5 days in the office per week.

About the job:
  1. Designing solutions across Aviva’s IT estate, defining overall architecture and system integrations that meet standards and ambitions for availability, security, resilience, and performance.
  2. Providing coaching, mentoring, and training to less experienced Solution Architects.
  3. Leading key design initiatives to ensure alignment with long-term IT roadmaps and immediate project needs.
  4. Shaping IT initiatives early to support investment decisions and initial delivery planning.
  5. Producing design artifacts supporting service, security, architecture, and engineering.
Skills and experience:
  • Passion for technology and leveraging it for customer benefit.
  • Strong design and architecture skills, experienced in agile delivery methods.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, especially Amazon Web Services, is desirable.
  • Financial acumen to support business case development and key design decisions.
  • Broad technical experience or specialized domain expertise to maximize technology benefits.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary circa £45,000, depending on location, skills, and experience.
  • Bonus opportunity up to 8% of annual salary based on performance.
  • Generous pension scheme with up to 14% contribution from Aviva.
  • 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, with options to buy or sell days.
  • Discounts on Aviva products and other retail offers.
  • Up to £1,200 of free shares annually through our Share Plan and Save As You Earn schemes.
  • Supportive policies including parental and carers' leave.
  • Flexible benefits, including sustainability options like cycle to work.
  • Paid volunteering days and wellbeing support.
