Do you enjoy using technology to solve customer problems? Are you looking for a role that combines your solution engineering and analysis skills with customer engagement? If so, then why not join Leonardo as a Solution Architect?

Our growing Digital Services team delivers data-driven applications and infrastructure to improve our current business, whilst also creating new opportunities for our customers in the UK and around the world. The Digital team is part of the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) line of business, which provides innovative and invaluable support solutions to our customers.

We are looking for a passionate and inspiring Solution Architect to join Leonardo to provide the solution architecture vision to a range of opportunities. This will involve working within a Campaign/Capture team, alongside our Business Analysts, to understand customer requirements and defining and articulating a successful solution using strong systems thinking skills. You will work closely with our product owners and developers to understand the current capabilities of the team and how that may contribute to new solutions, as well as using the team to help break down the design into costed work packages. You will also work closely with the wider Campaign/Capture team providing technical Systems Engineering and Project Management inputs to contribute to planning, scheduling and costing activities. You will also play a crucial role in managing senior stakeholders both internally and externally that will be both technical and non-technical in demonstrating and articulating the capabilities that the Digital Services team can provide.

Our team is located across the UK, and you can choose to be based on any of our main UK sites. Leonardo operates a very flexible hybrid-working model that lets our people split their time between attending the workplace and working remotely. CS3 operates across the UK with key sites in Luton and Edinburgh. Regular travel within the UK, and occasionally abroad, will be required to support co-located working.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Develop architectures and design specifications to expand, define, manage, and deliver solutions.
  2. Ensure solutions align with the team’s strategy, current capabilities, and technology roadmap.
  3. Contribute to technical Systems Engineering and Project Management activities, including planning, scheduling, and costing.
  4. Act as a focal point for key stakeholders to build confidence and credibility for the team and the wider line of business.
  5. Identify opportunities to diversify delivery capabilities to adjacent sectors and support writing technical responses for new bids.
  6. Encourage Agile practices, coaching teams in refinement and best practices, both within your own team and in partnership with others.

Ideal candidate profile:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect focusing on digital solutions.
  • Strong understanding of digital technologies, including cloud computing, on-premises infrastructure, microservices architecture, and API design.
  • Proficiency in selecting and integrating third-party tools and platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and project management.
  • Familiarity with security best practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Strategic thinking and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
  • Experience working with Business Analytics and Analysts.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Certifications in relevant technologies and frameworks (Azure, AWS, etc.).
  • Experience in the Defence Industry, including MOD logistics or engineering systems like MJDI, James, and Gold.
  • Knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, MODAF, Archimate.
  • Ability to organize teams to accomplish, prioritize, and deliver value.
  • Knowledge of data analytics and machine learning approaches.

Security Clearance:

Details to be discussed during the interview process.
