The purpose of the Solution Architect is to design and communicate the technology solutions with an architectural significance that deliver our key outcomes or epics. They create the designs to meet our quality, resilience, and technical objectives. They contribute to the definition of the solution architecture forward look.
- Solution architects design end-to-end solutions that deliver excellent customer outcomes which align with our technology strategy and our strategic goals to simplify and modernise the technology landscape.
- They collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams and have both broad and deep skills and knowledge.
- As well as designing solutions, they often assess choices and make recommendations for key design and architectural decisions.
- They support delivery teams in planning and estimating, and the wider platform or business areas to understand and mitigate technology risks, technical debt, and currency issues.
- They also define transition states to meet the roadmaps and target architecture defined by enterprise architects.
- Solution architects help to successfully navigate a path between our strategy and delivery.
Role Responsibilities -
- Support definition of a solution architecture to inform deliveries and product roadmaps.
- Analyse options and implementation alternatives to propose solutions and create designs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including product owners, engineering teams, architecture, and business.
- Align with architectural standards, best practices, principles, and patterns.
- Provide technical direction or guidance to engineering teams on architectural solutions.
- Participate in solution reviews to ensure compliance with standards and governance.
Identify and help mitigate risks associated with architecture.
- Deliver solutions in an agile manner, participate in agile ceremonies and using agile tools, working with feature teams using iterative development.

- Solution and Technical Architecture - Articulates strengths and weaknesses of alternative architecture solutions to recommend solutions based on experience. Ensures that the solution and technical architecture supports the requirements of the business process.
- Technology Leadership - Drives collaboration within agile teams and aligns technology elements across phases of product/development lifecycle.
- Critical Thinking - Interprets information in an objective manner (even when it is limited) using technical or industry-specific knowledge or experience and deductive reasoning. Generates and contributes ideas to support in the formulation of judgments and solutions.
