About the Role

The role

As a member of the architecture team, you will closely with product and clients to understand the requirements to translate them in solution designs; defining solution architecture, architecture roadmaps and day-to-day technical support to the engineering teams. This is a hands-on role owning the solution architecture for a group of capabilities within the product.

You will represent GSS with clients and utilize your personal experience to analyse trends and identify technology solutions to deliver the GSS product vision.

What you’ll do

Key responsibilities in this role will include (but not be limited to):

• Design & Document the architecture of a group of capabilities within the GSS platform.
• Work with partners and vendors to optimise the architecture.
• Design solutions that optimise the cost base and non-functional performance of the GSS platform
• Work with engineering teams, to perform technical spikes exploring new technologies, develop the solution in-line with the design and providing delivery oversight.
• Work within the architecture practice within GSS and adhere to architecture policies and standards. Presenting solution designs for approval via the Architecture Review Board
• Work closely with the GSS’s product team to shape the product roadmap.
• Review and support solution designs spanning the enterprise.
• Build technical roadmaps and backlogs.
• Identifying technologies and trends that could help GSS achieve its mission and delivery against product requirements.
• As a role model champion GSS mission, values and behaviours internally.
• Mentor senior engineers and provide delivery oversight for e.g. review of LL design, troubleshooting, support to developers during build, provide input in defining test strategy, participate / provide inputs during sprint refinement sessions etc.

About you

What you’ll need

A minimum of five years’ experience working as a solution architect for a fintech or regtech on cloud native technologies.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate clear evidence of the following skills and experience:

• An understanding of global payments and related market infrastructure
• A deep understanding of cloud based, microservice based architecture, event streaming technologies and secure financial systems.
• A keen interest in innovation using modern technologies.
• Proven record of delivering practical solutions through agile software delivery.
• A passion to deliver and make sustainable difference.
• Excellent collaboration skills working at part of a team and leading teams.
• Advanced communication skills and stakeholder management skills including working with external clients.
• The ability to think critically and anticipate how industry trends may impact financial institutions.
• Be a problem solving, innovate, thinking laterally and challenge norms.
• A strong commercial acumen
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)

The ideal candidate will experience with following key technologies.

• Experience with Microservice Architecture (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Spring Boot, Java, Python)
• Experience working with Kafka.
• Experience with Domain Driven Design
• Experience with design of low latency, reliable (fault tolerant), scalable, secure and cost-effective solutions on a cloud native platform.
• Experience with low latency OLTP transaction processing.
• Experience with Relational and Nonrelational databases.
• Experience integrating with third party services.
• Can talk to code i.e., read code / review code / paired programming / debugging code related performance issues, SQL tuning etc.
• Experience with AWS services such as S3, RDS, Aurora, NoSQL, MSK (Kafka)
• Experience with batch processing / ETL using Glue Jobs, AWS Lambda and Step functions.
• Experience with designing bespoke & tailored front-end solutions (GUI based) using open source technology such as React, NextJS
• (Good to Have) Experience with reporting tools such as Superset or AWS Quick Sights etc.
