Job summary

Ganymede Solutions Limited seeks a SolidWorks Design Engineer to design and modify food process equipment for a 12-month contract in Peterborough. You will create 3D models, assemblies and drawings, and ensure designs meet process requirements and customer specifications.

Experience in food processing or beverage production is highly desirable, with strong mechanical design skills and hygienic design principles applied to equipment and layouts.

Qualifications

• Previous hands-on SolidWorks experience in food processing equipment design.
• Proficient in creating and editing 3D models, assemblies and engineering drawings.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and translate process requirements into mechanical layouts.
• Background in food process engineering, food manufacturing or beverage production is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and modify food process equipment and equipment ranges.
• Use SolidWorks to create and modify 3D models, assemblies and engineering drawings.
• Develop mechanical equipment designs from process requirements and customer requirements.
• Interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, drawings and equipment specifications.
• Design equipment for use within food processing and beverage environments.
• Modify existing equipment to meet different process, capacity and customer needs.
• Review and pursue design improvements for standardisation and range development.
• Produce and update mechanical drawings, layouts and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with process, project, manufacturing and engineering teams to meet specifications.
• Consider interfaces with pipework, pumps, valves, tanks and conveyors.
• Liaise with suppliers, fabricators and external design partners.
• Attend customer sites to understand requirements and site constraints.
• Carry out site measurements and surveys to support design.
• Ensure designs are practical, manufacturable and hygienic for food/bev environments.
• Maintain accurate design records and revision information.
