Job summary
Your Recruitment Coach is seeking an experienced Design Engineer/Draughtsperson in Peterborough to develop and document 3D SolidWorks models, sheet metal and structural steelwork, and installation drawings. You will architect layouts for food processing equipment, conduct site surveys, and refine processes from concept to installation.
The role requires hands-on 3D modelling expertise, experience with weldments, and a practical, commercial approach to design.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' industrial design experience.
- HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong 3D SolidWorks experience including Weldments, Sheet Metal and Part Modelling.
- Experience designing equipment and structural steelwork.
- Good knowledge of industrial fabrication methods.
- Experience producing detailed fabrication drawings.
- Willingness to undertake occasional UK and overseas site surveys.
Responsibilities
- Developing 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings
- Sheet metal and structural steelwork design
- Designing access platforms, walkways and staircases
- Site surveys and measuring existing operating areas
- Producing fabrication and installation drawings
- Process layout design and refinement
- Designing interconnecting chutes and equipment
- Load-bearing calculations and identifying foot loadings
- Identifying utility connection points
- Producing risk assessments for specific solutions and layouts
- Updating drawings to reflect as-installed designs
