Job summary

Irwin Mitchell LLP in Newcastle seeks a Solicitor to join its leading Medical Negligence team. You will manage your own caseload and assist senior team members on complex high-value claims against NHS and private providers.

You will apply commercial and analytical skills to identify key issues and secure interim payments to support rehabilitation and care planning for clients. The team values collaboration, excellence and meaningful client outcomes.

Qualifications

• 1+ year PQE in Medical Negligence
• Ability to take instructions from clients and provide sound legal advice
• Demonstrable technical experience in medical negligence
• Experience assisting seniors on high-value complex cases
• Ability to manage own caseload with high attention to detail and seamless service
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

We are looking for a Solicitor to join our leading Medical Negligence team, based in our Newcastle office.

As the UK’s leading clinical and medical negligence law firm, we are committed to making a positive difference to our clients’ lives. Our specialists support individuals and families following failures in medical care, helping them secure the answers, compensation, rehabilitation and wider support they need.

Our team has extensive experience across a broad range of complex medical negligence claims, including birth injuries, surgical errors, delayed diagnosis, mental health negligence and fatal claims.

You’ll join our Newcastle team, led by Partner Samuel Hill. Sam leads one of the largest specialist claimant medical negligence teams in the North East and the team acts exclusively for patients in complex, high-value and sensitive claims against NHS and private healthcare providers.

You will have the opportunity to manage your own caseload while also assisting senior team members with more complex, high-value cases. You'll handle cases from start to finish, using your commercial and analytical skills to identify key issues and propose practical solutions for our clients. Whenever possible, you will aim to secure interim payments to facilitate rehabilitation, care packages, and suitable accommodation before claims are concluded.

We're looking for a Solicitor who has a passion for medical negligence work and proven experience working on high value multi track cases. You will ideally have the following:

• 1yr PQE+ experience in Medical Negligence
• The ability to take instructions from clients and give sound legal advice;
• Demonstratable technical experience gained within medical negligence;
• Demonstrable experience assisting seniors across high value complex cases;
• The ability to manage own caseloads whilst maintaining exceptional attention to detail and seamless service;
• The ability to operate independently and work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver the best outcomes for our clients;
