Job summary

DWF Law LLP in Birmingham is recruiting a Solicitor or Associate to join the Major Injury and Casualty team. The role requires handling EL/PL claims with possible abuse experience, and offers hybrid working with two days per week in the Birmingham office.

We are seeking candidates with 2+ PQE in defendant litigation and a strong track record in major injury matters. The successful candidate will build relationships with clients and support junior team members within a dynamic, national firm.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of Major Injury and Casualty matters, including EL, PL, Abuse, Casualty, Disease, and Large Loss.
• Draft pleadings, reports to clients, attend court hearings, meet court deadlines, conduct liability investigations, gather evidence, instruct experts.
• Prioritise work to maximise efficiency and adhere to court deadlines and service level agreements.
• Build and maintain client relationships and internal/external networks to support the Firm’s direction.
• Provide support and act as a go-to person for more junior team members.

We are currently recruiting for a Solicitor or Associate to join our team in Birmingham.

We are seeking an Solicitor or Associate with previous experience handling Major Injury and Casualty claims. Experience in Employer Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) is essential for this role, while Abuse experience would be advantageous.

The role is hybrid, with office attendance in Birmingham required two days per week. We are open to discussing flexibility for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

As a Solicitor or Associate in our Major Injury and Casualty, you will engage in a wide range of activities, such as:

• Working with the Partners to manage a caseload of Major Injury and Casualty, compromising of a variety of defendant Employer Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), Abuse, Casualty, Disease, and Large Loss claims matters, with claim ranging in value.
• Drafting pleadings, reports to clients, attending court hearings, working to court deadlines, liability investigations, gathering evidence, instructing experts and considering interesting medical causation issue
• Prioritising work effectively and to maximise efficiency in working practices, adhering to court deadlines and directions, as well as the client's service level agreements
• Building working relationships internally and externally in order to maintain client relationships, develop business networks and create a solid understanding of the Firm’s direction and client needs

What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential:

• 2+ PQE, within defendant litigation experience inEmployer Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), Casualty, Disease, and Large Loss is essential for this role.
  • Candidates that have a experience in abuse or industrial disease would be advantageous.
• Ideally experienced handling defendant Major Injury and Casualty files either in your own right, or as an assistant to more senior team members.
• We will also consider those with Claimant experience.
• Familiar with working in a commercial environment
