Job summary

DWF in Birmingham is recruiting for a Solicitor or Associate to join our Casualty team. The role is hybrid with office attendance in Birmingham required two days per week. We seek candidates with 2+ PQE and experience handling Major Injury and Casualty claims, including EL and PL.

Qualifications

• 2+ PQE in defendant litigation (EL/PL/Casualty/Disease/Large Loss) is essential.
• Experience in abuse or industrial disease would be advantageous.
• Ideally experienced handling defendant Major Injury and Casualty files, or as an assistant to more senior team members.
• We will also consider those with Claimant experience.
• Familiar with working in a commercial environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with Partners to manage a caseload of Major Injury and Casualty, including EL/PL/Abuse/Casualty/Disease/Large Loss matters and varying claim values.
• Draft pleadings and client reports, attend court hearings, meet court deadlines, conduct liability investigations, gather evidence, instruct experts and consider medical causation issues.
• Prioritise work to maximise efficiency and comply with court deadlines and service level agreements.
• Build relationships internally and externally to maintain client relationships and understand firm direction and client needs.
• Provide support and act as a go-to person for junior team members.

We are currently recruiting for a Solicitor or Associate to join our team in Birmingham.

We are seeking an Solicitor or Associate with previous experience handling Major Injury and Casualty claims. Experience in Employer Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) is essential for this role, while Abuse experience would be advantageous.

The role is hybrid, with office attendance in Birmingham required two days per week. We are open to discussing flexibility for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Working with the Partners to manage a caseload of Major Injury and Casualty, comprising a variety of defendant Employer Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), Abuse, Casualty, Disease and Large Loss claims matters, with claim ranging in value.
• Drafting pleadings, reports to clients, attending court hearings, working to court deadlines, liability investigations, gathering evidence, instructing experts and considering interesting medical causation issue.
• Prioritising work effectively and to maximise efficiency in working practices, adhering to court deadlines and directions, as well as the client's service level agreements.
• Building working relationships internally and externally in order to maintain client relationships, develop business networks and create a solid understanding of the Firm’s direction and client needs.
• Providing support and acting as the 'go to person' for more junior members in the team.

Essential

• 2+ PQE, within defendant litigation experience in Employer Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), Casualty, Disease and Large Loss is essential for this role.
• Candidates that have a experience in abuse or industrial disease would be advantageous.
• Ideally experienced handling defendant Major Injury and Casualty files either in your own right, or as an assistant to more senior team members.
• We will also consider those with Claimant experience.
• Familiar with working in a commercial environment.
