Job summary

The Recruitment Group is recruiting an experienced Employment Solicitor to lead and grow the Employment Law department for a prestigious Oxford-based legal practice. The role requires gravitas, commercial acumen and the ability to steer senior relationships end-to-end.

Qualified in England & Wales with 8–10+ years PQE, you will drive strategy, mentor the team and play a pivotal role in expanding client relationships and the Employment Law offering.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 8–10+ years PQE in Employment Law.
• Strong leadership and client relationship skills.
• Experience leading and growing a department in a law practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Employment team in the practice.
• Advise senior stakeholders including Board members and HR.
• Handle complex employment matters: ER, restructures, redundancies, whistleblowing, senior exits.
• Manage employment litigation and tribunal claims.
• Advise on contracts, policies, settlement agreements and restrictive covenants.
• Support M&A and organisational change initiatives.
• Develop client relationships and grow the Employment Law offering.

I am delighted to be working with a highly regarded legal practice based in Oxford who are seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor with the opportunity to take the lead in developing and growing an Employment Law department. This is a fantastic opportunity which would suit an established Head of Department or Director, but equally someone who is ready for their next career step and looking for a genuine promotion. We're looking for someone with the gravitas, commercial approach and ambition to lead a department, build relationships and grow the Employment Law offering. You don't need to be doing this role already, what's important is that you have the experience, confidence and desire to step up.

Role includes:

• Leading and developing the Employment team
• Advising senior stakeholders, including Board members and HR

About you:

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent)
• Strong Employment Law background with 8–10+ years' PQE
• Excellent knowledge of UK Employment Law
• Commercial, pragmatic and confident with senior stakeholders
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Gravitas and credibility, with the ability to build trust with clients and senior colleagues
• Ambition to grow and develop a department
