Job summary

RES is seeking a field-based Technician(Solar) to service utility-scale PV plants and battery storage, ensuring safety, quality and performance within budget. The role requires full electrical qualifications and willingness to travel between sites with on-call duties.

You will develop HV/AP/SAP competencies through our in-house training, while advancing to higher levels. A company vehicle, devices and pension are provided, with extensive role-specific training offered.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of central inverters desirable.
• Understanding of High Voltage operations.
• Strong AC/DC, SCADA, instrumentation and networks knowledge.
• Solid solar PV technology understanding.
• HVAC, fire protection and security systems knowledge desirable.
• Battery storage knowledge; training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to health and safety requirements at all times and help improve safety standards across plants.
• Achieve and maintain Authorised Person status as training and role require.
• Perform planned inspection and maintenance per legal/technical requirements.
• Inspect, test and maintain plant and equipment.
• Conduct AC/DC system testing, troubleshooting and fault-finding.
• Carry out reactive maintenance and fault resolution promptly.
• Troubleshoot sensors and communications equipment (RS485, Ethernet, fibre).
• Configure computer-based devices and firmware updates.
• Induct and manage subcontractors; ensure safe working and quality checks.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
• Coordinate with O&M office and teams; travel between sites.
• Occasionally work away from home for training or cover.
