Job summary

Bluefield Partners LLP in Leicester, Northampton and Peterborough is seeking a practical Field Service Engineer to join our Operations & Maintenance team. You will inspect, maintain and fault-find solar PV systems on utility-scale assets across the region, working with contractors to keep performance high and safety standards top.

The role requires hands-on electrical/mechanical skills, knowledge of LV/HV maintenance, and a disciplined approach to documentation, reporting and compliance.

Qualifications

• Essential qualifications include electrical, mechanical or engineering discipline; City & Guilds 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification; City & Guilds 2399-13 Solar PV Installation; City & Guilds 2399-14 Solar PV Maintenance; Advanced Apprenticeship in Electrical Installation; AP15 / OP40 Certification; City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection & Testing.
• Minimum three years' experience in Solar PV Operations & Maintenance on utility-scale sites; G59/G99 competency; strong earthing, testing and protection relays knowledge; inverter experience; IT skills including CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, testing and remedial works on operational solar PV systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance activities in accordance with annual maintenance plans.
• Undertake corrective maintenance and fault rectification as required.
• Diagnose and resolve system performance issues and equipment faults.
• Support the installation and commissioning of new solar PV and wind energy systems within the project pipeline.
• Ensure all electrical testing records and maintenance documentation are accurate and audit-ready.
• Report site activities and maintenance outcomes through CMMS and reporting systems.
• Notify management promptly of operational issues, risks or concerns.
• Supervise and coordinate third-party contractors undertaking works on site.
• Ensure contractors comply with site procedures and health and safety requirements.
