Job summary

Astute People is recruiting a Solar O&M Technician to support utility-scale solar PV sites across the UK. The role reports to the O&M Manager and involves preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and site inspections.

The ideal candidate will hold NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 in electrical installation, 18th Edition, and have experience with solar PV systems. A company vehicle and ongoing training are provided as part of the package.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installation or a related discipline.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance across utility-scale solar PV sites.
• Diagnose and repair faults on solar PV systems and electrical equipment.
• Respond to reactive maintenance callouts to minimise site downtime.
• Complete scheduled inspections and ensure sites remain compliant with health and safety standards.
• Produce accurate maintenance reports and record all completed work.
• Identify opportunities to improve system performance and site reliability.
• Assist with the commissioning of new solar PV installations.
• Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental policies.

Astute's Renewables Team is partnering with a leading renewable energy business specialising in utility-scale solar PV to recruit a Solar O&M Technician based in the Leeds/ North Yorkshire regions to support sites across the UK. Responsibilities and duties of the O&M Solar Technician role

Reporting to the O&M Manager you will:

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance across utility-scale solar PV sites
• Diagnose and repair faults on solar PV systems, electrical equipment and associated infrastructure
• Respond to reactive maintenance callouts to minimise site downtime
• Complete scheduled inspections and ensure sites remain compliant with health and safety standards
• Produce accurate maintenance reports and record all completed work
• Identify opportunities to improve system performance and site reliability
• Assist with the commissioning of new solar PV installations
• Ensure compliance with all company Health, Safety and Environmental policies
• Other duties as required

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installation, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification
• 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification would be advantageous
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting or commissioning electrical systems
• Previous experience within utility-scale or commercial solar PV would be beneficial
